[ Maybe a bit. Nero's still got more tricks up his sleeve but he isn't going at full strength. Part of it is also due to his own arrogance and pride, but he nods. ]
Sure, plenty of times. A weird monster plant tried to kill me back home too.
[His blade swings down a few times and releases sparks.]
Try roasting them with fire.

[ Power-hungry assholes all across the universe. Yay. ]
They'd argue that whatever they did, they did for the betterment of mankind, no matter the atrocity. It turns out that ideal is pretty subjective.
[ If she sounds bitter, it's because she is. Velvet's gaze drifts over the crowd around them; they are like two dark fish out of water. ]
Hard to protect people from themselves, isn't it. I usually don't bother trying.

Yeah. Planning on joining up?
[She'd considered it, briefly.]

[...Well what's he going to do, say "no" when he's being showed up like that?
Red threw his coat and shirt aside, kicking away a thrashing severed tendril. How dangerous could a little sap really be?]
Right.
[Still, they weren't going to be able to cut their way to this thing's heart any time soon, but that didn't mean that they couldn't carve their path through it. And they weren't the first giant, obnoxious plants Red had cut down in his line of work.
If she would keep slinging around the upper levels like that, he'd just cut away the proverbial 'roots' the hard way with his feet on the ground.]

I’ll hold you to that.
[Though of course, he’ll be the first to encourage her to get out of danger if it comes down to it. Still, it seems like she knows what she’s doing, which is more than he can say for some of the other kids he’s met since arriving here.
She takes off and 76 is quick to follow on the ground, pushing himself into a sprint as he fires a trio of rockets at the nearest cluster of vines.]

"Maybe other people would come. And not the scary monsters. Then you'll be safe and you'll have friends."
So long as it wasn't a select few individuals...
Koishi blinked at the question though. "Oh. My third eye?" She looked down at it, reaching out and taking it, pulling it away from Mikasa. "No. I mean, technically it doesn't 'see' the way the eyes in my head do. But it doesn't see at all anymore. It's blind." She used a finger to gently lift the eyelid, revealing the milky white surface.
"It's how we satori youkai read people's thoughts. But I can't read people's thoughts anymore. Instead I can manipulate the subconscious. I like that power better. I can sort of 'feel' the shape of your mind though. It's strong and nice and full of geometric shapes and angles. I like it a lot."

Probably not. It's against tradition for people in my order to join planetary defense forces. So, I really shouldn't.
[Then again, maybe she should bend that rule too.]
I figured I'd operate independently, and rely on...Moonlacing...to make Chroma.

Seriously? That's disgusting. Not you, the titans.
[Nero's expression is just twisting away into anger. He takes it out on the vines, cutting them down]
Good thing you bagged those assholes and showed them who's boss.
[Mikasa knows where it's at. She's strong enough to take down a titan. So Nero can trust her to take care of herself in a fight.]

[Time for him to show off a bit. He twirls the gunblade around his finger and momentarily rests it against his shoulder. He even ejects the first shell by hand, without jamming his gunblade.]
What, yours doesn't?
[Of course, they couldn't just try and hold their ground forever-- they had to eventually cut themselves a path out that would let them rejoin the others. And after a few more well-placed blows from the both of them, one small side street section was left considerably cleared...]
Over there! Think we should go for it?

[ In Velvet's view, that's more than respectable. She could think of a plethora of worse reasons to become a soldier, and the contradiction hardly even registers – perhaps because it resonates closely with her own priorities. ]
You know, I could use someone serious to train with while I'm here. What's your name?

[76 moves smoothly for his (apparent) age, keeping up with Mikasa seemingly with little issue. He hits the vines with the rockets and she cuts through the rest of them, so all that's left for him to do is go after the stray plants.
This proves to be effective, despite the fact that it fills the alleyway with smoke and steam. For good measure, he activates his visor and lets that do the rest of the work, using it to pick off any that remain with pulse fire.]
I think that's all of them.
[That he can see, anyway.]

Good eye.
It's Velvet Crowe. I'll consider it a win if you can make me sweat even just a little.
[ Velvet is confident, but she also has a mind to stoke the fire of competition. If she can get a reaction from Mikasa, that would feel like a win, too. ]

"Ohhh nono. Hehe. My power doesn't turn off. And it's kind of indiscriminate." She tugged the edges of her hat down a little. "It's a whole bunch of noise to me. Rolling as excitement rises and falls. Just like normal sound. It's just how we satori see the world."
A pause.
"Or, rather, how I see the world. Since most satori aren't blind. Actually reading thoughts is a little different. It's much louder." A pause. "Well, it's why sis doesn't like big crowds. But she doesn't like a lot of noise regardless of if its in her head or not."
