(There's no avoiding any of this, no matter how hard Mikasa tries. There are greater concerns on her mind, but if she's going to be stuck here, then at least she can volunteer as security in case something goes wrong. No sign of titans, thankfully; no one here needs those following her to this planet. She'll be distant, arms folded and blades sheathed at her side, but mostly quiet. Try as she might to keep herself in isolation, it won't last for long.
The music blasting from the performance is...cheerful. Moreso than what she's used to. People on the street are dancing to it, enjoying it and each other. If nothing else, it was a welcome change to the despair of fearing titans and pastors on the street preaching about the end of days. It was peaceful, something she could enjoy. She catches herself swaying to the rhythm of the music a few times and stops herself, but the opportunity to unwind is hard to ignore.
Same for the need to eat. Octopus is new to her; last she checked, the ocean was pretty much a myth and anything beyond your standard fish was pretty unknown. Still, it wasn't bad. Odd, for sure, especially with all of the tentacles everywhere. The chocolate fondue fountain is...interesting to look at. And also completely new to her! Can you blame her for wanting to try it? Or how trying it seems to draw her attention to your character?)
Here. Let me escort you...
Day 2 – B
(The idea was to get people to safety, not be someone who needed to be saved! In her haste, Mikasa finds herself too exposed to the pollen and, by severing a vine aimed for someone else, finds herself cutting through a flower and being struck with that pollen. It doesn't get in her eyes directly, though they do turn white in response. The people targeted escape safely, but before the soldier can leave, she falls to her knees, keeping herself steady with her swords planted into the ground with a shaky grip. She tries to force herself back up, but finds herself breathless and tired. It's hard to move, but she has to keep going...
...She could use a little help here.)
Day 3 - ⚔
(Now this she can do. Day 3 goes a lot better for her, now that she's experienced what the plant can do firsthand. Grappling hooks jut out towards the side of a building and the sound of zipping can be heard, along with a ferocious slash that completely severs a tentacle. Through her maneuvering gear, Mikasa can be seen roaming through the city with remarkable agility, swinging between buildings and cutting down bits of the plant with acute precision.
Another clean cut leaks sap out of the tentacle as it flops to the ground, giving her a moment to touch back onto the ground and firmly shake the substance off of her blades.)
It was no accident that my gear came with me, was it...?
I suppose a lot of this is special to me in return; everything here seems more advanced than anything back home. Unless they have titans to exterminate, I don't what they would need me for.
Yes. Deformed human-like creatures that can vary from 3 meters to even 60 in height. They draw power from the sun and solely exist to eat people. No one knows why. What we do know is how to kill them: a deep enough slash across the nape of their neck will kill them in one pass. They regenerate too quickly otherwise.
Fortunately, I haven't found a trace of them here.
(It takes Mikasa a moment to process that. A glance in Velvet's direction is soon replaced by the wide-eyed, red faced look of clarity. Somehow, she hadn't even processed the tentacle motif as anything phallic; why would her mind go in that direction anyway?)
[ Look, she hasn't exactly researched the lore extensively – and she probably won't, to be honest. Mikasa's flustered look is quite a contrast compared to how she was presenting herself just a few seconds ago, and Velvet holds back a grin. ]
It's not the type of cultural attitude I'm used to, either. Discipline and sacrifice were a lot more popular where I came from.
(Fortunately, that's a more comfortable subject than thinking about how many phalluses she walked past in the past few hours and how lewd any of them are meant to be.)
[ No kidding. Still, Velvet takes a a few seconds to consider how to reply. It's complicated, one could say. ]
I mean the entire ruling power, although you're not completely wrong. They did use their military to strong-arm most of the populace to behave in a way they thought was proper.
(It's sad to think they would have that much in common, as well. One thing Mikasa wouldn't wish on other worlds? Titans. They're more than a handful in one world...)
Pressurized gas. It's little more than a sheath for my blades without it.
(Nothing too complicated, really, but she's assuming this'll be all she has for a good while.)
Even these feel outclassed compared to what this world offers. Your mask and your rifle seem far more in-line with what they provide.
[Unless this society as a whole has moved on from things like that. He doubts it--at the very least, he imagines there might be someone around who can rig something up.
Not something to worry about right now, at least, not with a more immediate threat right in front of them. To emphasize that fact, he nods at the vines still writing in the street in front of the. He'll be happy to have a more in-depth discussion of his own gear once this is taken care of.]
Something to be said for simplicity. You got enough juice to finish this off?
(Mikasa's still good with a sword and with a gun, though she doesn't have the latter. Her mobility will take a hit, which will suck when she has to navigate through the city.
At the same time, she draws her blades. The man seems far more experienced than she is, so the thought of giving him orders doesn't sit well with her. She instead gets right back into the action with a propelled grapple towards the nearest building to cut through the ones she passes by.)
(She's almost thankful for the vines swooping in right now. It's a far better distraction than accidentally seeing Red nude again, which...
...Nope. Not thinking about that right now.
There's no verbal response from her; only the rush of wind as Mikasa tackles those vines head-on, like she intended. Her attacks are fierce and...probably trying to make up for the slip-up a moment prior. She's even using her Maneuvering Gear to help take down several at once, following their intended use and this time, making it a point to not bump into Red again.
Who knows how much there'll be left to fight back once Red's fully clothed.)
[Dangit, why did he always manage to get his pants on backwards when he was in a hurry?! Taking them back off- ugh, the boxers, too?!- putting them back on, and...!
Okay, the shirt and coat can wait. He just grabbed the gunblade and whipped around to face his foes.]
RIGHT! Time to kick some taaaaail...?
[Wow. That was a lot of finely-diced foliage littering the area around him. This girl didn't mess around. Oh well. Flinging the clothes over his shoulder, he lined up and fired off few shots with the gunblade, aiming right for one of those friskier vines that was looking to interrupt Mikasa's, uh... gardening spree.]
(She was so focused on covering Red that she fought through a good chunk of them in a short span of time. You had to be mobile when fighting titans; their colossal strength could kill a human in one blow and only had so many weaknesses. These plants, while more nimble, were far less of a threat to her.
There's a sizable mess of sap on the ground by the time Red's finished and another tendril flopping lifelessly as he calls out to her.)
[...Well what's he going to do, say "no" when he's being showed up like that?
Red threw his coat and shirt aside, kicking away a thrashing severed tendril. How dangerous could a little sap really be?]
Right.
[Still, they weren't going to be able to cut their way to this thing's heart any time soon, but that didn't mean that they couldn't carve their path through it. And they weren't the first giant, obnoxious plants Red had cut down in his line of work.
If she would keep slinging around the upper levels like that, he'd just cut away the proverbial 'roots' the hard way with his feet on the ground.]
Magic? Youkai? Talking about these things during a festival about squid people? That's a lot for her to take in right now, but Mikasa's keeping a straight face through the confusion.
"I don't know. This isn't the world I know, so maybe everyone else can fly and they're choosing not to. No one can do that where I'm from."
A slight frown. "So you're not from here, either."
"Nope! I'm from a very different place. A place called Gensokyo. Creatures like me all decided to move there since humans took over everywhere else and we couldn't survive. So, instead, we have our own little peaceful bit of land. I live underground!"
She drifted over, very much in Mikasa's space. "What was your home like?"
Gensokyo...Mikasa's never heard that name back home, but the description hints at another world entirely. There's no way this place could exist where she's from. Especially since...
"...The last of mankind resides behind three walls intended to protect us from titans. They prey off of humans despite no need for sustenance. The world outside those walls remains a complete mystery after taking sanctuary there for over a century. Titans broke through the outermost wall years ago and the second wall not long before I arrived here. Even without the threat of titans, the people are a threat to themselves and those around them. It's a cruel, unforgiving world that would allow even the kindest of souls to die cold and alone..."
Mikasa catches herself partway through her explanation. Maybe that's a bit much to dump on a child as wide-eyed as this one.
"...But there are soldiers like me who fight to protect innocent people. We were in the middle of a battle before I awoke here, so I'm still adjusting to the shift in tone."
Koishi just sort of blinked, tilting her head as Mikasa explained the world she was from. Her frown gradually deepened. That did not...
"What a cruel and wicked world. You did well for living so long in it. I would die in a world like that. Not just me, but all youkai. We depend on humanity to survive." She drifted closer, nudging her shoulder. "It's safe here though, okay? You don't have to be scared."
Her third eye drifted over, nudging Mikasa's shoulder gently. "You're very brave for protecting people though. And every place has people worth protecting too."
(Here she is putting in an honest effort while he's maybe partially trying and having fun with it. The crazy thing is? He's good. Is it possible he's holding back?)
[ Maybe a bit. Nero's still got more tricks up his sleeve but he isn't going at full strength. Part of it is also due to his own arrogance and pride, but he nods. ]
Sure, plenty of times. A weird monster plant tried to kill me back home too.
[His blade swings down a few times and releases sparks.]
